What Are Adult Day Centers?
Adult Day services are a system of professionally delivered, integrated, home and community-based, therapeutic, social and health-related services provided to individuals over the age of 18 to sustain living within the community. Adult Day Centers are an invaluable resource for individuals and families dealing with dementia and other chronic health care concerns by offering health care services along with therapeutic recreational and social events on a daily basis. Adults of all ages in need of functional support attend Adult Day Centers to spend their days in a safe place while remaining at home in the evenings. Adult Day Centers provide needed comfort for participants and respite for family members and caregivers. Adult Day Centers provide safe, quality care for frail and vulnerable adults. |
What was MADSA?
History of MADSA Covid mandates closed adult day care centers across the state. After restrictions were lifted many adult day centers were not in positions to reopen and resume their programs and activities. Those that did found it difficult to take time away from their centers to attend state-wide meetings. This in turn made it difficult to compile a complete slate of officers, board members, and committee memberships. As a result, the difficult decision was made to dissolve the association and join the MADSA membership with the Michigan Directors of Service to the Aging (MDSA) so adult day services would continue to have a voice in the state level discussions about senior service needs and solutions. Effective June 19, 2025 MADSA officially dissolved as an association. |
